Industries We Serve
IT support for farms and agri-businesses in Eastern Ontario
Barns, shops and a house spread across a property, equipment that talks to the network, and an office computer that runs the books and the reporting. We build networks that reach and keep the computers protected.
Farm IT is mostly a networking problem first and a computer problem second. The buildings are far apart, the walls are steel and concrete, and more equipment every year expects an internet connection: monitoring and control systems, cameras, weather and sensor gear, the phones in everyone's pockets. Then there is the farm office, where one computer runs the accounting, the government reporting and the email, usually with family and business mixed together.
We are based in Morewood, in the middle of a farming township, and this is a large part of what we do.
What usually goes wrong
WiFi that reaches the barn
Consumer routers in the house do not cover a yard, let alone the inside of a barn or shop. Everything past the driveway ends up on cellular data or nothing.
Equipment on the same network as everything else
Control systems, cameras and sensors are rarely updated and should not share a network with the office PC and the kids' tablets.
The farm office computer
It holds the books, the herd or crop records and the reporting deadlines. If it fails or gets encrypted, the backup is usually a USB drive from last year.
Rural internet
Whatever the connection is, the whole operation depends on it. Fallbacks and sensible network design matter more here than in town.
How we help
Outdoor and barn WiFi, building-to-building links
UniFi and Omada access points rated for outdoor and dusty spaces, point-to-point wireless links between buildings, and a proper gateway at the centre. Designed on site, installed, and managed afterward.
Networking →Segmented networks
Equipment, cameras, office and family each on their own network, so a problem in one cannot spread to the rest.
Firewalls and network design →Device Shield on the office computers
Monitoring, patching, web filtering and threat protection for the machines that run the books, flat per device per month, plus local PC backup as an add-on.
Device Shield →Cameras that you can actually see
Security cameras on the yard, barn and driveway that work over the network we built, viewable from the house and the phone.
Security cameras →Questions from farms
We are well outside town. Do you come out?+
Yes. Farms are onsite work by nature, and travel is a flat fee by zone rather than mileage. Most of North Dundas, Russell Township and North Stormont is in our local zone.
Can you work with the internet we already have?+
Yes. We design the network around whatever connection you have, wired, fixed wireless or satellite, and build in a fallback where it makes sense.
Do you support the software that runs our equipment?+
We support the network and the computers it runs on, and we work with the equipment vendor when their system needs a connection or a change. We do not replace the vendor's own support for their product.
