Industries We Serve

IT support for law firms and professional offices in Eastern Ontario

Client files, email and calendars are the whole practice, and confidentiality is not optional. We put the protection in place that a small office cannot run on its own, at a fixed monthly cost.

A small legal, accounting or real estate office has the same obligations as a large one and none of the staff to meet them. Client information has to stay confidential, email has to be trusted, records have to be kept and recoverable, and the people handling all of it need to work from the office, from home and from a phone without any of that slipping.

Email compromise is the specific risk. Attackers target professional offices because the emails are about money: closings, trust transfers, invoices. A convincing message from a compromised mailbox is how funds get redirected. Identity protection and email security are where we start.

What usually goes wrong

Confidential files everywhere

Client documents live in email, on laptops, in practice software and in a shared folder, and every copy is a place they can leak from.

Email as the attack surface

Phishing and lookalike messages aimed at closings and transfers. One stolen password without multi-factor authentication is enough.

Retention and recovery

Files have to be kept for years and recoverable on demand. A mailbox deleted by accident or a laptop that dies should not be a crisis.

Practice software and vendors

Case management, accounting and e-signature tools each have their own support line. Somebody has to own the whole picture.

How we help

User Shield Pro for every fee earner and staff member

Microsoft 365 Business Premium with identity protection, multi-factor authentication, device management and backup of mailboxes and OneDrive, plus unlimited support. This is the tier built for offices where the mailbox is the business.

User Shield plans

Device Shield on every computer

Monitoring, patching, web filtering and threat protection on office machines and laptops alike, so a device taken home is as protected as one at the desk.

Device Shield

Email Shield and a password manager

Additional filtering for phishing and impersonation, and 1Password for the office so credentials are unique, shared safely and revoked when someone leaves.

Add-ons

One number to call

We coordinate with your practice software and other vendors so you are not the go-between, and we explain what we did in plain language.

Questions from law firms and professional offices

Can you help us meet our professional obligations around client data?+

We put in place the technical controls that those obligations depend on: multi-factor authentication, encrypted and backed-up mailboxes and files, managed and patched devices, and documented access. Whether a specific rule is met is a question for your regulator or counsel; we make sure the technology is not the weak point.

Our staff work from home some days. Is that a problem?+

No, if the devices and accounts are managed. User Shield Pro and Device Shield together mean the laptop at home is monitored, patched and protected exactly like the one in the office, and access is tied to the person, not the location.

What happens if a mailbox is compromised?+

With identity protection and multi-factor authentication in place, most attempts fail at the login. If something does get through, mailbox backup means we can recover what was deleted or altered, and we walk you through what to tell clients.
